Posts vs Reels, Which Is Better for Growth?

Are Reels Better Than Posts on Instagram?!

What are the advantages of In-Feed Posts vs Reels for the best Instagram growth? Previously, we covered Understanding the Basics of Instagram In-Feed Posts and Understanding the Basics of Instagram Reels, so if you haven’t checked them out, be sure to do so! So now that we know the difference between in-feed posts and reels, which is better for growth and why?!

The Instagram algorithm changes ALL THE TIME, however, reels have significantly many more benefits than in-feed posts for a few reasons.

  1. Captivate Their Attention

64% of consumers make purchases after watching a branded social video on Instagram. Short videos are much more captivating than a long ad, or a generic Instagram post. With reels, one can easily capture a user’s attention AND keep them hooked. Users do NOT have a long attention span these days… so hooking them up for 10-20 seconds is best! The end goal is to capture the viewer’s attention, giving them a reason to leave the social platform on to a landing page you own, such as your website, where it is easy for them to purchase from you, subscribe to you, etc.

  1. Increase Views

With reels, the greater number of views, the more of a chance you have to be featured on Instagram’s explore page. This is SO important because it enables a MUCH larger audience than a regular post would, therefore creating more reach, views, likes, comments, and hopefully some new followers.

  1. Easy Content Ideas

Content can be easily rehearsed and put together. Scroll through your Reel feed, find a trend, and relate it back to your niche group!

Summing Up!

So which content type should you post to increase your engagement? More times than not, your answer is always going to be Reels. As mentioned in Understanding the Basics of Instagram Reels, Reels are Instagram’s version of TikTok. Being able to capture someone’s attention in a short video, is much more likely than trying to capture their attention with a single Instagram post. Remember, the end goal is to captivate their attention enough so they are interested in learning more about you and what you have to offer for them!
